Working in collaboration with the UN Secretariat, JCI has held several JCI-UN Summits in New York . These Summits have helped JCI members learn about the UN and its projects, including those related with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). JCI members worldwide are contributing to achieve those MDGs. The UN Secretariat is led by the UN Secretary-General , who is appointed by the General Assembly.

In June 2004 , JCI was elected as one of the six members of NGO Committee on UNICEF's Executive Committee. NGO Committee influences decision-makers and the variety of partners at grassroots level to improve children's lives worldwide and, especially, in developing countries

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and JCI have had formal working relations since the 1994 World Congress in Kobe . JCI contributes to achieve UNESCO's goal of promoting cooperation among its 190 Member States and six Associate Members in the fields of education, science, culture and communication.

Since 1954, JCI has enjoyed a Special Consultative Status with UN's Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), responsible for promoting higher standards of living, full employment, and economic and social progress; identifying solutions to international economic, social and health problems; facilitating international cultural and educational cooperation; and encouraging universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.

Pan American
Health Organization

JCI has been actively working with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) since 1994 by implementing cooperation agreements focusing on children. These agreements have been signed by Latin American National Organizations. Enjoying international recognition as part of the United Nations system, PAHO serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization.

The Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Section of the Department of Public Information (DPI) at United Nations Headquarters serves as the liaison between the Department and NGOs (such as such as JCI) associated with DPI. As other such NGOs, JCI helps disseminate information about the UN, thereby building knowledge of and support for the Organization at the grassroots level. The Group Programmes and Community Liaison of DPI have provided assistance for the JCI�UN Summits.

As an NGO enjoying participation status with UNCTAD in the general category, JCI receives notifications of and documents for conferences and meetings convened by UNCTAD. JCI representatives are entitled to participate as observers, without the right to vote, in the public meetings of the intergovernmental bodies. They may also contribute to UNCTAD's multiple and excellent programs, such as Globalization and Development, and International Trade and Commodities

JCI and the Council of Europe cooperated in a training program for leaders of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Georgia and Montenegro . The Council of Europe is an intergovernmental organization founded in 1949 to protect and promote human rights, pluralist democracy and the rule of law. JCI hopes to continue cooperating with the Council of Europe to enhance the protection of minorities, and increase tolerance and understanding among people.



International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and World Chambers Federation

On March 4, 2004, 20 years after the signing of a partnership agreement with the ICC-WCF, JCI renewed this agreement. ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) is the voice of world business championing the global economy as a force for economic growth, job creation and prosperity. And the World Chambers Federation (WCF) is the ICC's specialized division for its Chamber of Commerce members worldwide. JCI and ICC-WCF are actively cooperating with in various areas and their cooperation is proving to be mutually beneficial.


JCI and the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry (EUROCHAMBRES) signed a cooperation agreement. EUROCHAMBRES represents 41 national associations of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and has a European network of 2000 regional and local Chambers with over 17 million member enterprises in Europe .



Youth Business International (YBI)

Youth Business International (YBI) is a joint venture between two organizations: The Prince of Wales Business Leaders Forum and The Prince's Trust. YBI has taken on the challenge to combat youth unemployment by helping young people to work for themselves and build their own businesses. JCI Hungary has begun a pilot project with the YBI Hungarian Foundation to provide business plan consulting for young entrepreneurs.

 


AIESEC International

JCI and AIESEC, the world's largest student organization, began ongoing communications upon signing the original cooperation agreement in the early 1980's. In 2003, the agreement was renewed and put into motion. More than 40 JCI national organizations have established cooperation agreements and are attending AIESEC events.



European Confederation of Junior Enterprises ( JADE)

The European Confederation of Junior Enterprises (JADE) i s a student-run, pan-European network representing about 20.000 young entrepreneurs in more than 150 local non-profit organizations, called Junior Enterprises. A fast growing young entrepreneurs' organization in Europe , JADE will soon become a global organization. JADE is a natural partner for JCI because it also promotes entrepreneurship in Europe and the world.


L'Association des Etats Généraux des Etudiants de l'Europe (AEGEE)

AEGEE (Association des Etats Généraux des Etudiants de l'Europe) is one of the largest European students' associations with about 17.000 members in 42 countries. AEGEE promotes European integration and understanding among young people in Europe by arranging conferences, language courses, exchange programs, case study trips and working groups all over Europe . JCI and AEGEE promote each other's organizations on a European level. AEGEE members and alumni over the age of 18 may become JCI members.



Junior Achievement - Young Enterprises

JA-YE Europe and JCI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in 2004. JA-YE stands for Junior Achievement/Young Enterprise. JA-YE organizations teach enterprise, entrepreneurship, and economic literacy, focusing on the importance of market-driven economies; the role of business in the economy; the relevance of education in the workplace; the impact of economics on a child's future; and the commitment of business to social, environmental, and ethical issues. As part of their MOU, JCI and JA-YE Europe participate in each other's events and JCI provides training to JA-YE Europe members.


JCI has signed a Cooperation Agreement with Careers in Europe , an organization that provides exceptional recruitment solutions for graduates and early-career professionals. Careers in Europe and JCI will present the Careers in Europe Forum, which will be held on December 14 and 15, 2004, in Brussels .

The Careers in Europe Forum is a unique pan-European recruitment event for internationally minded candidates. During two days, recruiters representing multinational companies will conduct one-to-one interviews to discuss excellent career opportunities throughout Europe . In addition to private interviews, workshops and individual coaching on mobility will be available.
